-- New Fountain Selected for Downtown Plymouth --

After a painstakingly long process, the Plymouth City Comissioners have unaimously approved the construction of the Wilcox fountain.

Above depicted is a terrible, pathetic render of the fountain. For starters, the lighting doesn't match, and it looks like the people were cut out of a children's magaziene with safety siscors and pasted onto the imagine with elmer's glue. This is not indicitive of the visual merit of the fountain.

City Manager Paul Sincock explained there will be a later action related to Shaw Construction, which is being retained to perform site preparation as well as being the overall construction manager for the project.

When will this be finished? How much will it cost?

The Wilcox Foundation has committed nearly $1.2 million toward the project. The Plymouth City Commission will chip in $30,000 and the Plymouth Downtown Development Authority has committed $20,000.

Absent any unforeseen hurdles, the existing fountain that has served as the park's centerpiece for more than 50 years will be demolished beginning in spring 2021. A target date for the completion of the new structure is some time in the fall.
